CONTACT and BIO LESSONS/WORKSHOPS

alexander-lesson-2.JPG

I state on the home page that I am a teacher of the Alexander Technique. It would be more accurate to say that I now use much of the common hands-on (tactile/kinesthetic) methods of AT but teach whole body imagery for postural release and formation. That was a mouthful, but more accurate.

I am available for individual lessons and also available to lead workshops with groups. The particular nature of a workshop is determined by the number of participants, length of time available, and particular interests and skills of the participants. Groups might consists of actors, dancers, musicians, or athletes. Tai Chi or other exercise classes could incorporate the work and perspective in their disciplines. It is not limited to any particular groups, unless the participants claimed they were incapable of visualization! Some people may be more “right brain” than others and more capable of easy visualization, but I don’t think many are incapable of learning the skill.

To learn more, discuss particulars, and/or inquire about lessons, please first email me . For those who could not afford many lessons, let me say that I think that even a couple of hands-on Alexander Technique lessons, coupled with a new familiarity with Posture Release Imagery, can open the way to ongoing, exciting changes. Stated somewhat academically, the “tactile-kinesthetic experience” of one or a few hands-on lessons can jump-start the response to later private use of Posture Release Imagery.

About me

I am a writer and teacher of the Alexander Technique in southwest Missouri, USA. I studied at the Urbana Center for the Alexander Technique (UCAT) and was certified in 1986. Having been on a quest for greater understanding of mind/body unity all of my adult life, along the trail were experiences and reading in Reichian therapy, encounter group therapy, Rolfing, and tai chi. Years spent as a carpenter were valuable in providing me numerous opportunities to experience the physics of use and the exhilaration in the physical.
